Consensus NOLA with this one, it's a no brainer actually. If you've never been there or don't have a relationship with your sister that condones sex, belligerence and over the top boozing be aware. Regardless I'm sure you'll have a great time.

It depends on what kind of partying you want to do? DO you want to go to a huge club with bumping bass and people grinding on each other on the dance floor or do you want to walk down Bourbon street sipping hurricane and bop spot to spot listening to live music on the streets? I've been to both cities several times and based on my experience if I was turning 21 and looking to party I'd choose NOLA all day every day over ATL. Nothing against Atlanta I love it out there, but strictly on a partying basis it's not really a comparison.

There is more stuff to do in NO for a 21yo, hands down. The weather doesn't matter, it's going to be muggy either place.

Except the OP never specified "partying" as the sole or even main reason for visiting. A 21 year old girl may also want to do some shopping or maybe even go to Six Flags.

Speak for yourself. I've lived through Gulf Coast summers and Atlanta summers. They are not the same at all.

New Orleans...It's practically a rite of passage for a lot of young southerners to either go to NO or ATL when they turn 21, but they definitely seem to favor NO. One of my younger nephews is turning 21 in a few months and is debating between NO or Memphis (Beale Street) and ATL wasn't even a consideration.

You can walk up and down Bourbon Street with alcohol and there's a casino in Downtown, so you can knock two birds with one stone for your 21st birthday. You can't walk down Peachtree with alcohol...legally. And the closest casino to ATL is in Alabama. When I turned 21, I made a beeline for New Orleans to party and drank myself silly and gambled for the first time there.

Atlanta would be a more well-rounded destination in terms of amenities and nightlife, but its much more spread out overall. ATL is more of a nightclub city and NO is more of a bar city. Exactly what is your sister looking to do? That would help better answer your question.

Also, New Orleans is far muggier and more miserable in September than Atlanta is, which cools down quite a bit in late September. If she's sensitive to heat and humidity, take that into consideration.

Because it's New Orleans man. You're not going to have nearly the same experience in Atlanta as you would in New Orleans. Which is why people flock here for fun weekends.
