Accounting for downward revision of the 2015 est. Chicago lost around 9,000 instead of 15,000, LA actually gained 27,000, and NYC I believe gained 21,000
OKC fell just shy of my guess of 640,000, coming in at 638,367.
Many cities had revised 2015 estimates that were down from the Census' initial estimate. I suspect that this caused many of our guesses to fall shy of the 2016 estimates.
Miami also passes Virginia Beach, which drops 2 places in ranking behind Raleigh and Miami. Miami also passes Omaha.
Miami's increase this year is particularly stunning. 12,715 added people in less than 36 square miles is amazing. In other words, Miami added over 350ppl/m2 to its density in one year.
Well, I had guessed Chicago would drop to 2.71 million and the final estimate for 2016 is 2.705. Kind of sobering numbers, but what can you do. Taxes, crime and weather unfortunately are real factors to population gains or losses.
