Trinidad James wasn’t even born in America. He was born in Trinidad, move to nyc and then moved out of nyc when he was a child. He wasn’t born here nor was he raised here. Just lived here for a very small fraction of his life!

Yea he def doesn’t have that strong accent but you’ll hear him saying Nyc slang here and there but there’s nothing wrong with it. He’s fully invested into the city now.
I think that a lot of black NYC slang simply becomes nationwide black slang

The south rappers all about making money and provide for his or her families. It don't matter if the rapper up and coming or already established, collaborations or support give music artists a buzz in the industry right now. Maybe that's something northern rappers need to work on and stop hating on each other.

Yes, the South and Chicago popularized "thot" and "opps", but "Lit" and "thirsty" are some of the most commonly used NYC slang in pop culture these days, it's definitely nationwide. Most kids don't even know these are originally NYC terms because it's so ubiquitous, they just see it all the time in social media and ride the wave.
"Facts/fax" and "catch an L/W" are both from NYC/NJ as well. You can't go on IG or black twitter and not see these terms lol.

Yea people use the word FACTS a lot and that is indeed a NYC/NJ term.
Also sometimes you’ll hear people say “son” in various regions here and there!
