I voted for the 90's
I can remember a time when nobody even liked 90's hip hop!
I have a lot of friends that quit listen to hip hop music altogether after the 80's.
Eazy E, Ice Cube, and the rest of N.W.A ruled in the 80's.
What about Ice T?
The 80's had it's fair share of gangsta rap.
I said eighties before gangsta rap. Considering how late N.W.A. debuted they didn't rule much of the eighties at all.
And as a non hip hop fan none of the names in your previous post means anything to me.
Plus Ice T is an actor in my world.

They ruled the late 80's only...
Run-DMC is a group better suited to say they ruled the 80's decade.
Having said that the 90's were still better... that's when the first real stars of Hip-Hop were created.
2Pac, Biggie, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Snoop, Outkast, DMX, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Eminem, Ja Rule...
Not only did the artist become stars the music evolved too. Sure there were some lame Gangsta Rappers that made terrible music but there were also great artists like the ones mentioned above who made some classic material and/or chart topping music. The 80's couldn't touch that. A lot of respect should be given to the 80's rappers as they laid the foundation for Hip-Hop but the 90's built the house. You may not have liked it... but you cannot deny what was accomplished.
