Two charming little cities on the water, similar in size, with a nice dense core and abundant outdoor activities in their surroundings areas, in adjacent regions of two alike nations. Which one would you prefer?

Consider factors such as...
Quality of life:
Vibrancy:
Offerings within city limits vs surrounding region:
Location:
Economy:
Education:
Transportation/infrastructure:
Food:
People:
Future outlook:

And anything else you may think of.

Ithaca, except for maybe relative cost of living and location. Not sure in terms economy.

Both are nice small cities though.

Kingston...cuz it's in Canada

Kingston has a very nice location...near up and coming Prince Edward County/Picton area.
Lots of new wineries are popping up.
Sandbanks Provincial Park nearby, giant dunes.

Old Fort Henry...fantastic place to visit, like stepping back 200 years in time.
Kingston has quite a few interesting historic buildings downtown and was considered
for being the capital of Canada before settling on Ottawa.

New this year is a cool "prison" tour, Kingston is the prison captial of Canada,
some have been recently decomissioned and now offering tours inside.

Kingston, an interesting small city less than 2 hours from Toronto.

Quality of Life: Same
Vibrancy: similar
Offerings within city limits vs surrounding region: Kingston, as it is bigger
Location: depends, but I would say Kingston, as you are a 2-hour train ride from either Toronto or Montreal.
Economy: Kingston, more businesses, Ithaca you either work for the colleges, self-employed or struggling(with some exceptions).
Education: Ithaca
Transportation/infrastructure: same
Food: I don't know
People: depends what you like
Future Outlook: same

Since I live in Ithaca I'm biased.
Canada is a nice place to visit, and have done so repeatedly, but wouldn't care to live there.
