But it's not. The Chicago skyline (in the opinion of many) is better than that of NYC. It shines on its own...not in the shadow of NYC.
I think that Chicago stands on its own and isn’t a “poor man’s NYC” and that many love Chicago and their great skyline. It’s fabulous. Some posters statements here come off as defensive though, it may be warranted I don’t live on these forums enough to tell. Do you seriously think Chicago gets maligned skyline-wise and if so, who cares really it’s the internet. When I’m in Chicago the last thing that I’m thinking is NYC rather I’m admiring the Chicago sights.

Yet that logic is never used. Why do you suppose that is? Perhaps the “logic” isn’t as logical as you think it is.

Is it really better at a street level however? most of the amazing shots of the Chicago skyline I've seen are taken from helicopters over lake Michigan. Whenever I was in Chicago, I can't remember being overtly impressed.
But the view of the Manhattan skyline from the top of some brownstone in Brooklyn, is just fantastic. Mostly because of the length of the skyline.
