Long Island VS Greater Boston would be a good one. They both have around 8 Million people
But for the sake of this discussion, I'd probably say Boston (According to the criteria)
c-o-l: Boston
education: Boston
economy: Manhattan
diversity: Manhattan
sports culture: Boston
public transit: Manhattan
q-o-l: Boston
Hard to answer on any objective basis, they are not the same idea at all.
yeah. i figured all of metro n.y.c. would be a landslide so i chose the best /county/ in the n.y.c. metro against the boston necta.
the hudson county thread is comparing one of the worst /counties/ in the grandest city in the world against the boston necta so obviousely a landslide for boston.
When you say we’re moving “Greater Boston” to South Dakota, does that include the city? Or just the surrounding towns?
Assuming the answer is yes: here are my thoughts...
-In the case of Manhattan, I’d argue that separating it from some of its industrial and rundown suburbs in northern NJ and SW CT and putting it in the middle of a beautiful wild countryside would make it an even MORE appealing place to live.
-On the flip side, removing Greater Boston from the Atlantic would take away a lot of what makes the area so appealing (i.e. it’s beautiful coastline and fantastic seafood).

economy: Manhattan for economics, Boston for job growth

Eh a lot of people prefer Boston over NYC. Less crazy, less traffic, more opportunities in certain fields, some people are drawn to it I think Boston Metro also ranks higher on livability, so especially outside citydata its very close.
I love Manhattan, truly the gem of one of the few greatest cities on this earth. So, it got my vote.
But, this is one of the very few comparisons I'd vote against Boston.
