I actually like Montreal a lot too. If I were a Black guy and you dropped me off randomly somewhere in the Montreal Metro or the DC Metro, I would pick Montreal. If I were a Black guy and could choose between Montreal or Washington DC outside of the 30 square miles where crime is higher, I would pick DC (because DC is a city with a large Black culture, arts scene, food scene, music scene and political consciousness).
.
There is a thoughtful poster on here called Edwardsyzzurphands who says similar things. He is of West Indian origin and has lived in Toronto but says he prefers to raise black kids in a U.S. city because black culture is more relevant, richer, dynamic and mainstream, and because there are more and better role models for success for his kids.

To further expand, Northern Virginia, where I live, has 3,105,905 people (the # of Virginians who live in the Washington Metro Areas) and had 38 murders last year. That's a 1.22 homicide rate, safer than Toronto and likely similar to Montreal. And it's incredibly diverse. My city of Alexandria, VA is 25% Black and extremely wealthy and safe. Prince William County is 22% Black and extremely wealthy and safe. In fact, the entire region is 45% racial minorities.
Montgomery County, Maryland had 21 murders with 1,058,810 people. That's a 1.98 homicide rate. Not as good as Montreal, but quite safe.
Adding Frederick County and Calvert County to the tally, 4,508,239 people in the Washington Metro Area live in areas with homicide rates at or lower than Canada's rate. 4.5 million, by the way, is more than the entire population of the Montreal metro area. And these are all very diverse counties.
Where the problem lies is in Washington, D.C. itself. If you divide DC into two halves on 16th Street, the western half had 1 murder in 2017, whereas the eastern half had 115 murders. The western half is overwhelmingly White. The eastern half is overwhelmingly Black. The eastern half is more populous than the Western half, hence DC being a city politically controlled by the Black community.
Crime in Washington is hyper localized based on socioeconomic status. If you are wealthy, whether white or black or Hispanic or Asian, you can easily live in a part of the metro area where a murder is considered scandalous.
If you are poor, regardless of race, and have to live in Eastern DC and its adjacent jurisdictions in Prince George's County, then crime is definitely problematic. But the issue isn't racial. It's economic. An educated Black man in the Washington metro area has about the best quality of life you can imagine. A poor Black man in the Washington metro area is miserable (as is any poor man of any race in the U.S.). The problem is that a lot of the poor Black areas are Black controlled. Prince George's County and Washington, D.C. are cities where the Government is Black. So there isn't a class divide but a socioeconomic divide that separates Blacks in these areas. Again though, I grew up in racist Oklahoma. Washington, D.C. is the opposite of racist. It's very post-racial, even to the point where Black elites feel more connected to White elites than to poor Blacks, which is a huge problem if you ask me.
What amazed me about Montreal was seeing all these different races interact in fluent french, including intelligent well dressed black people. Quebecers are very defensive of their language and culture, I think it's more to do with that than racism though it can be confused.

Baker listed new developments, including the Tanger Outlets mall, the $925 million MGM resort and casino, and a regional health center in Largo. The county is also lobbying to land the new FBI headquarters.
Aside from nightlife Montreal does indeed have much prettier women than both NO and DC!
Isn't the stereotype of French women that they have mustaches and harry armpits? Considering Quebec women are largely from French descent, I'm struggling to see what would make them distinctly beautiful. (Not trying to provoke, I'm genuinely curious)
In what world is Montreal more racially diverse than Washington?
MTL has around 200+ ethnic groups, I know % wise it might seem less diverse, but Cultural diversity wise we are one of the most diverse cities in N.A. Maybe not Toronto or NYC diverse, but we're up there.

DC and New Orlean women are MUCH prettier, and have WAAAAAAY better bodies. I would get tired of looking at those basic sticks in Montreal lol.
