I currently live in Miami. I work as an elevator mechanic for ThyssenKrupp Elevator.
There has been a recent boom in high rises in both of these cities.
I have been to both cities in the past.
Buying a house in Atlanta is affordable, while LA is unrealistic. I work in a field where I have to be near a city.
When I’m in Atlanta , I visit Alpharetta, Suwannee, Flowery Branch, etc...
Can anyone tell me the drive time from Atlanta to Flowery Branch during the work week around 4-5pm.
Miami has horrible traffic as well, it takes me anywhere from 45 min. - 1 hr 20 min. to get home.
I like the area. Could really use your advice.
In LA I’d be around 15/20 min. outside the city. Again, cost of living is more.
Thanks for any/all advice in advance.

15-20 min outside LA is only 2-3 miles at rush hour. Is that what you meant or did you mean 15-20 miles?

If I choose LA, I’d be staying in Pasadena/Glendale. Since I start work @ 5:39 am, the morning commute would be fine. The afternoon will be worse. Just trying to find out about the evening commute to Flowey Branch from ATL.

Thanks

It’s 45 miles from Flowery Branch to downtown Atlanta (if that’s your destination). My niece and her husband live just north of FB in Oakwood. From their house to downtown is a good hour even without traffic. NE Atlanta (Gwinnett County) has some of the worst rush hour commutes in the entire region. You can expect a minimum 1.5 hour drive from FB into downtown Atlanta during rush hours, and vice versa. Though if you’re destination is some of the business centers further out (Buckhead, Perimeter Center, Alpharetta) you might shave some time off that ...

I would definitely not recommend a commute from Flowery Branch to DT/MT or Buckhead in Atlanta. That would be a horrible IMO. Like the poster stated above me, in the afternoon you would easily be looking at 1.5-2 hour commute.

Flowery Branch to Atlanta commute during the week is a nightmare. Sometimes on weekends road work and lane restrictions can also play a factor with heavy traffic. I would reconsider if I were you.

I'll echo that Flowery Branch to ATL would be a nightmare. Also, as someone who also used to live in Los Angeles, Atlanta traffic is awful, but LA is its own special version of hell. Glendale to DTLA may be reasonable, but keep in mind a lot of people will be waking up early to head in right with you. However, the 5 Freeway isn't as bad as the 405 or 101, but it's still pretty bad.
