That's a crazy homicide rate, the highest in the country even. That's almost triple the rate of Flint, MI. According to this article, there were 37 homicides in 2017 in East St. Louis which was a rate of 137 even. In 2018 the number of homicides dropped to 24. Can't imagine what living there must be like, probably listening to the sound of gunfire all night long.

Toronto city proper is 3.1 million? I thought it was 2.8 or 2.9?

After a thorough investigation, MTL now at 21 (population 2.033M) after a triple homicide that happened last week. This is the second mass murder to happen in a domestic residence this year. I was hoping we wouldn't pass 20 yet we did with a few weeks left in 2019.

And that is an almost two month old number. That's mind-numbing, especially when you consider the number of people who have been shot is probably twice that of those who have been killed.
