Chicago in my list above should read 51, not 47. The rate is correct at 1.88 though. Dallas is up to 30 homicides now - doesn't appear to be the best of years there as that rate is almost the same as Cincinnati's now.

#28 in Charlotte, rate of 3.26. This was really odd, the way they reported it on the news, a guy carjacked someone, then after he couldn't start the car, got out the car and was leaving the scene. The carjacking victim was on the phone with 911 when a stranger walked up and shot the carjacker, then fled the scene...

Would this have been considered self-defense(non-homicide) if the victim had shot and killed the carjacker?
