I prefer San Diego's weather over Seattle's but Seattle has a better economy and nightlife

Scenery/Out Door activities - Tie. It's a matter of preference Beaches vs Mountains/Forests..

People - I would give it to Seattle.

Crime Rate - Tie. Both are very safe cities

Nightlife- Haven't been out in Seattle, but I hate going for a night out in the rain, so SD wins
Culture-Depends what type of culture. I enjoy Latin culture and history, so SD
Shopping-Tie?
Dining-SD because Mexican food
Scenery-SD has beaches and canyons and mesas and wetlands/tidal pools and mountains, Seattle only has mountains
Outdoor activities-SD because of the better weather and a more variety of outdoor environments
Crime rate-not sure, probably SD is safer
Economy-Seattle, though SD is good too
People-SD. I can't stand hipsters and the PNW coldness/attitude
Quality of life-SD

Do you realize Seattle is on the Salish Sea? Seattle is also surrounded by water. Check out an air photo of Seattle.

My two favorite cities in the US.

After spending significant time in both, I think Seattle narrowly edges SD in everything except crime rate.

When people go on a beach vacation to see the ocean sunbathe and do all that comes along with a beach vacation, does Seattle come to mind? No. San Diego does though

True that but if people are going on a mountain vacation they would think of Seattle 😀. Also Seattle is a larger cruise port city.

If this thread were even ten years I suspect SD would have been the clear winner, today i would suspect Seattle, its funny how places heat up in terms of desireability
