I realize these two cities have been compared on here a ton. They share a lot in common. Both have boomed dramatically over the past ten year. While both have sprawled out a lot in their suburban areas, they also have infilled their downtown's. The amount of development in both of these cities downtown's is incredible. Overall which skyline do you prefer, and which do you think has improved the most? It seems like Nashville's skyline is a little grander and larger, but Austin has taller buildings.

Nashville is getting much better. However, Austin has the better skyline and it's not even close. Once 6x (850ft), and Republic, (700ft+), get under way, Austin will be up with Denver, Minneapolis, and Charlotte.

Not to mention Austin also has 31 towers that are 300ft+, with several under construction, including 3 towers 500ft plus that are site prepping or under construction.

Austin has more towers, and more height. Austin's boom started before Nashville's, so it has about a decade head start.

Austin's is more dynamic--right now--than Nashville's. Nashville is working on some incredible density though, and in 5 years, Nashville will go from 18 completed skyscrapers over 300 feet, to 29-30 skyscrapers over 300 feet. That's amazing growth.

Granted, Austin also has similar skyscrapers, if not more, under construction, so their number will catapult up to over 40 total.

By 2030, the skyline growth for each should continue to be booming--if economic conditions cooperate. The total numbers of high-rises over 300 feet by then, should have Austin with 45 towers +, and Nashville with 35 towers +.

Impressive and incredible growth for both cities.

Right now, probably Austin? In the future? Who knows.

Nashville has the larger skyline if you include West End and Midtown. The best view is coming from I-65 North (Louisville). You can see the the entire thing. The only problem is the towers are much shorter than Austin's. The West End hospital and Vandy districts add density, but Austin wins here. Austin has had the most dramatic transformation. Nashville's interstate discombobulation ruins the intimacy and orientation of the skyline. In Nashville you "drive by" the skyline rather than into it, so you don't really know what buildings are there unless you are observant.
