It's a different type of economy, and a lot of it is powered by transplants that bring their money with them. They suffer from a huge income disparity, unfortunately.

No.

Folks want to push their cities into Atlanta weight class and that gets shot down. In 2019, Nashville is making waves in the Southeast and beyond. If at anytime any reputable Atlanta poster said that Atlanta is immune to corporate relocation or corporate competition amongst other regional metropolitan areas, please point that out? Charlotte has long been a thorn in Atlanta’s side and to a certain extent Raleigh has too. Now that Nashville has come into the picture, nothing has changed except new competition.

And since we’re on the subject of class, just how much farther along is Nashville than Charlotte or Austin?

It really is hilarious that folks push a region of 2 million up against a region of 6 million.

If Atlanta did this with New York or Los Angeles, it would be insecure on our part. But Nashville does it, and it’s not a complex at all. Atlanta is 3x as large as Nashville.

I hope Nashville continues to boom and refine itself. Our region has been frowned upon for far too long.

No doubt Nashville is doing its thing right now, but let's not go overboard.
Good luck. If you don’t admit that Nashville is Atlanta’s peer, you’re a hater or insecure or both.

Miami’s and Florida’s economies in general are lackluster. That’s odd to say about Florida with it being a trillion dollar economy, but it’s true. It’s the retirees fault (apparently) but at least the state is growing (and rapidly at that!).

In a way it really doesn't matter who's peer to who, competition is competition! It can be your big brother, little brother, little cousin or big cousin, well mature friend or very immature friend, male or female.. Not to mention people and things grow up and things change.

When they say Nashville is Box Office......they mean Nashville is Box Office.
You really believe that Nashville is competition for NYC? Chicago? Boston? Philly? San Fran? Seriously?

And? Many cities across North America are experiencing a skyscraper boom, including my hometown, which, according to some reports, currently has more cranes than any other city. This growth isn't unique to Nashville, you know. Not by any means.

Miami has a decent corporate presence; much of it tends to be for Latin American firms though, and much of Miami's population are Latin Americans and other foreign investors with second homes there.
