To be honest, they're both underwhelming. The two prominent buildings in Albuquerque look fat and squat-ty. The capitol building in Jackson helps it but Albuquerque's backdrops tips the scales.
I think in terms of architecture and size, Jackson has a pretty impressive downtown for a city of 165,000+ city and a metro of around 600,000.
ABQs Downtown is underwhelming to be since the city has a metro population around a million people. The metro is on par with Omaha, Tulsa, and Honolulu but all of these cities have at least 2 buildings of 400 meters or taller where ABQ does not.

Jackson is on par with Mobile, Little Rock and Des Moines and all of those cities have buildings over 400 feet tall. All are much more impressive downtowns and skylines than Jackson.
I don't know what point you were trying to make with this thread. Downtown Albuquerque and Albuquerque overall are much more vital and impressive than Jackson, no matter what you may think about architecture of whether Albuquerque is on par with some of its peers when it comes to skylines. Albuquerque also beats out plenty of its peers when it comes to skyline.
Albuquerque has two skylines, Downtown and Uptown, and an office cluster with two tall buildings that provide for awesome views and photos when they are captured in combination.
1. Height of buildings (which are pretty close)
2. Sight-lines to skyline
3. Architecture
4. Scenery
5. Size of the skyline overall
1.These are objective numbers, post them
2.ABQ? It is in an area that has views from longer distances, right?
3.Subjective. I prefer ABQ
4. " " "
5. Again, objective numbers, post them
ABQ has a better skyline than Jackson overall, although ABQ's is rather underwhelming. Little Rock area is a good bit bigger than Jackson I think, but the other two are pretty close.
What is up with people on these forums getting angry and defensive over other people's OPINIONS?! I don't understand that...
Anyways back to the question. Again I did a Google photo search for each city and their skylines. Personally what other people find underwhelming, I liked because it wasn't 'typical'. In my opinion not every city has to have skyscrapers all over the place or even one skyscraper, but again just my opinion. Cities with lower skylines seem unique and more quaint, which I like. I also like the megalopolis look for cities where it fits as well.
In regards to my tastes:
Albuquerque, NM has wonderful architecture and the surrounding mountains give for a scenic view.
Jackson, MS I love it's capitol building and the green oasis in the city is very lovely.
It's pretty much a tie for me.
