Jersey City is a fast-growing urban city that needs supermarkets. The whole city is a food desert, but especially in the Journal Square and Bergen-Lafayette neighborhoods.
Minneapolis already has several grocery stores downtown.
Minneapolis has several options already - Whole Foods, Lunds & Byerlys, Trader Joes, Target, Elliot Park Grocery. There is the 2 story Walgreens that has a decent grocery section as well. Still, I wouldn’t mind one more. Maybe they could put an Aldi or one of those newer sleek urban Cub Foods on Hennepin where the CVS used to be.
Downtown could definitely use a grocery store...maybe not a full-service one at this point but at least a small specialty grocer somewhere easily accessible to GSU and the big hotels.
How far is the Publix in Midtown from downtown? IIRC, I did walk from there once or twice during my last stay. Downtown and Midtown are almost one right now IMO.

Technically, the 'Midtown' Publix at Piedmont and North Ave is in Old Fourth Ward just outside the official boundaries of both downtown and Midtown. It's not a particularly long walk from either.

I wouldn't mind seeing Fresh Thyme open up a downtown MPLS location.

And gaining by several thousand per year. Depending on which tracts, generally we'd be well over 30,000 per square mile today.
Including Lower Queen Anne and the denser parts of Capitol Hill and First Hill, you can add a Safety, Met Market, and three(?) supermarkets on Broadway including greater Downtown's second Whole Foods that just opened.
Boston has really improved in recent years with the opening of a Roche Bros. supermarket in the basement of the old Filene's building and it has a direct connection to the Downtown Crossing MBTA Station. There is also a supermarket being added in the basement of a development at North Station. Outside of the official downtown there is a grocery store in the Prudential Center complex as well. Plus there are plenty of smaller specialized stores in Chinatown, the North End, Beacon Hill, and the public market near government center.
