I don't know if I believe the non-hispanic white growth numbers. They just seem wonky to me. I find it hard to believe for example Atlanta only having a numeric increase of just 30k non-hispanic whites out of like 450k growth between 2013 and 2018. That's basically saying 93-94% of Atlanta's metro growth was non-white. That would actually be pretty shocking to me.

We'll see on the 2020 census because a lot of the numbers across the board just seem so wierd to me. I just don't see the DC area shedding it's white population.

Where a white people moving into in the DMV that isn’t NE SW NE DC proper?? Maaaybe Arlington, but most of that growth if not all of it is international immigrants.

Overall the White population is declining now and the Northeast is absolutely ground zero for it.

Loudoun County maybe (if looking at numbers and not via percentage). Maryland and Northern Virginia outside of Arlington and Loudoun Counties have had a decrease in the white population (by percentage) for a good while now.

The Exurbs are diversifying also so I expect that the NHW percentage might also decline in Exurban Counties in both MD and VA.

Well Whites are technically moving into almost all of the jurisdictions around the DC region. The issue is there are more previous White residents moving out of those jurisdictions, causing net domestic migration to be negative. All in all, over the past 5 years the DC region had about a net loss of 7,000 or so whites. Places like New York and Chicago had up to 300,000 net loss.

DC does fairly well compared to other northern areas but I think thatsbecause it's kind of southern. So the white loss isnt so intense.

Also bear in mind that with the birth rate rapidly decelerating among non-Hispanic whites in general that the non-Hispanic white population in this country in terms of raw numbers will eventually decrease as non-Hispanic white Baby Boomers die off in droves while very few non-Hispanic white Millennials and Gen Z'ers are having more than one child.

Has very little to do with South or North, which DC is sandwiched between. DC is the capital so it's growth can resemble a lot of places. Just some random cities on White population growth 2013-18:

Dallas/Fort Worth: 107,947
Houston: 67,022
Seattle: 63,433
Minneapolis/St. Paul: 41,001
Atlanta: 30,497
Washington DC: -7,779
San Francisco: -21,168
Virginia Beach: -23,031
Miami/Fort Lauderdale: -89,369
Chicago: -179,629
New York City: -377,360

It decreased for the first time ever from 2017 to 2018. It started a little earlier than expected.

Thats a lot of loss for NYC even given its population. It seems NJ CT RI and NY are the steepest losers of white population...MD and MA follow close behind. I definitely think the trend is more consistent in the northeast. But these are ocool number and challenge some of what I had thought. Although i'm not particularly surprised by them. Seattle is definitely one of the only major coastal metros gaining white population.
