Low murder rate for a large city, it's not hard to see why Atlanta is a popular destination along with being the entertainment capital of the south. City has undergone great change!
Damn what's going on in in New York? A few days ago it was about even with Baltimore and Houston.
Possibly complications from COVID or Quarantine? Tensions maybe? It was unfairly hit the highest by this awful pandemic and the restrictions are grave and putting a lot of stress on New Yorkers who just want to leave NYC for good but cant. My friends arent happy rn... maybe that?
I wouldnt put a lot of thought into this for NYC. Is still really low and they are dealing with the worst of the worst right now. I think they are doing better, much better, than expected.
Murders in NYC is low compare to late 1990s even though it was dropping then. If it was 1998 the city would saw 224 murders by now and 1991 little over 700 homicides near May.

We still have a lot of room for improvement, and that's actually a relatively high rate for the population of less than half million in the city proper. But it has improved a lot in the last 20 years. It's not in the top 3 (for overall violent crime rate) like it used to be. It's barely in the top 25 now.
Miami Has Recorded No Homicides in 6 Weeks Despite Deliberate Decline in Police Enforcement
Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina says that not only has violent crime plunged in the city, but Miami has not reported a homicide in six weeks. That hasn't happened since 1964.
