You know Boston is soft when they make a big deal about people getting shot and not dying. When at the same time countless cities actually had bodies drop last night.

And to the previous poster that mentioned Boston non fatal shootings they are still extremely low compared to other cities. Theres been 61 non fatal in Boston so far this year. Thats miniscule for the population and demographics there.

There are more shootings in Gary and Jackson MS than Boston they much smaller cities. Boston is not that bad for it size yes there rough areas there like any other city.

He’s a blogger who live sin the neighborhood. Not sure that qualifies as a big deal..

But if that’s your hill, die on it. Just seems weird you’d pick Boston out of all cities..

I feel like it's sort of a compliment, Houston would improve significantly as a city if it was "softer", I pray that the city becomes soft if having less murders is considered being soft. The homicide rate this year, hasn't slowed down at all for April and May, something about COVID lockdown got Houstonians especially in the Southern portion of the city, thinking it's okay to kill each other now. if we are over 150, by the end of May, thid might be the first time the city hits 300 since Katrina.

Safe is a compliment. Soft is not because it’s more of an indictment of character.

No one who’s really lived in Boston would call it soft, it’s far from soft, really. It’s cold, crowded city with heavy segregation, Lots of snow, very old amenities/landscaping/general fee, a frugal hardworking yankee spirit, pockets of noticeable blight, gang plagued neighborhoods , high COL, and Or New England for that matter. I’m not sure most people in general would call it a soft city. Relatively safe yes but we all know of large cities that are significantly softer and some that are safer. That’s why I find it odd he’d choose Boston of all cities.

But yea most of anything hard in Boston nowadays is concentrated in 1/3rd of an already small city. The other gritty and hard areas are not technically in the city. Safe city overall though.

But naw theres been at least 8 shots fired calls I know of since May 13th, 2 homicides, 6 people shot and 4 people stabbed. All in the same 3/4 neighborhoods.
Not call Boston soft with any degree of seriousness one would have to cognitively dissociate with large swaths of the city, or compare it to Milwaukee Philly Bmore St Louis etc..or one would have to base it solely off violent crime in the past 2 years.

Update that man in Hyde Park succumbed to his gun wounds:

Correct. Also remember almost no one legally owns a gun in Bsoton because you have to take a Boston Police Department course, personally interview with the police commissioner, pay for a permit etc etc. No one legally owns guns in Boston. Almost every single shooting is an illegal firearms that has been acquired with drugs or cash from people in NH/VT. Gun crime will be lower. But Boston has a very high assault rate , which are the non fatal stabbings.

BostonBornMassMade is the realest Boston native poster on here.

He likes to fact check those who like to espouse the lily white transient yuppie aspects of Boston, which has taken over it's image since gentrification.

Actual Boston is anything but.
