Immigration rates to the U.S. are absolutely pathetic. We need to increase immigration to match the rates of our economic rivals, or we're gonna get swamped. Canada has 3x the immigration rate, most of Western Europe has 2x the immigration rate, and here in the U.S. we're busy talking about walling off the country while birth rates are plummeting and there's a huge shortage of employees. Sheer madness.
Agreed. Pittsburgh is a perfect example of this. We're actually losing population due to a falling birth rate coupled with very low immigration. My office has been shorthanded since I started here about four years ago. My fiance's office is also short-staffed and has been since before he started working there about two years ago. ALL of my friends work for employers who are shorthanded. As Baby Boomers begin to retire in droves who is supposed to replace them in the workplace with decreasing immigration and a relatively small Gen Z entering the workforce?

Yup. The administration is so pathetically shortsighted on this issue it's mindboggling.
We need immigrants to grow the population and economy. Point blank.

Yes and Pittsburgh is a fine example of a great place to live that is the victim of sharp demographic changes across the country.
Man, Miami really is the capital of Latin America and the Caribbean. You see a splattering of Latin countries in the other cities, but in Miami that's all it has. Love it, because yes, while it's not a diverse as other cities, it's what gives the city such a unique character and flavor.
Uh, have you not been paying attention the last 3 years? These anemic numbers are the intentional result of current administration policies.
I know, hence my point. The U.S. is digging its own grave by killing its future.
It will take 20-30 years to feel the effects, but they will be huge, when the Googles and Teslas of the next generation are created in Germany and Canada, because a minority of yahoos decided that immigration to the U.S. was a terrible thing, while the U.S. suffers population decline and economic stagnation because grandpa back in 2020 didn't want to hear any funny accents at the grocery store. Meanwhile grandpas kids had 1 or 0 kids, so population decline ensues.
Most tech companies are founded by immigrants or children of immigrants. Most of the most valuable companies in the U.S. are founded by immigrants or children of immigrants. Apple, Google, Amazon, Capitol One, EBay, etc. And historically, Colgate, Kraft AT&T, etc. We're basically ceding our future to our rivals. Idiocracy. But everyone who supports this madness will be dead when the you-know-what hits the fan.

Would be nice to find Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa numbers in comparison for that time frame.
