I don't have the slightest idea what this is supposed to mean.
I thought it odd also and the Gogo is most certainly a blend of black music styles including Gospel

Derived from Funk, Latin music, with Caribbean/African influences. As well as hip-hop.

Chuck Brown (the Godfather) was in a Latin band before go-go was created.

No it wasn't derived from Gospel. It is heavily percussion based, with loud horns and conga drums. Which during it's inception had little to do with Gospel sound. Now there are currently "Gospel Gogo" bands that 20-30 years after Go-Go's inception became popular due to locals being accustom to the beat and drum patterns infusing that with Gospel chants/songs. That however is like a separate sub genre within a sub genre.

Regarding the Latin aspect, yeah you can certainly hear the similarities.

You should look up one of my favorite Dominican artists Omega (El fuerte). I swear if you watch one of his live shows and see the way he controls the band, and the manner in which they structure the songs, you would think you're watching Big G and Backyard Band perform.

Here are my question...

What is the culture of the south meaning what does it mean to be southern (food, language, mannerisms, etc.? What is the culture of the black south? What is the culture of the white south?

Until you answer those three questions, you won't understand where I'm going with this.

Go-go is a popular music subgenre associated with funk originating in the Washington, D.C., ... though Brown has said in interviews that both he and Washington had adapted the beat from a gospel music beat found in black churches.

Caring what you think has nothing to do with defending our culture as you try to tear it down and they are two different things. My defense of GoGo aligns with your agenda to diminish it.

Also does this sound like it's derived from Gospel?

Gospel at least when Go-go was created in the 70's did not have timbales banging and congos smacking.

In a nutshell white Southerners roots are more from Celtic folk origins. Black Southerners is a mix of African foods, rhythms and even the dialect is different that of white Southerners although over the years there has been more overlap due to both races living in proximity of each other. So much of those cultures a melding of each other although they still have unique aspects
