You have to get on local roads to be in places with a true rural feel, and there are neighborhoods in the city that can feel like that. It honestly surprised me when I first came across them.

It feels rural in part due to the topography. Many of the neighborhoods with twisty/windy/hilly roads were already established before the region spent money on road upgrades. It would be very expensive to widen these types of roads (if even possible).
