Does Austin even do rodeo?
To be fair a short distance outside of Austin there are towns in the Hill Country that are as Western as you can get.
There's a rodeo in Austin!! It's not as impressive as Houston's, but yes, there is. When I think of a bustling western city though, Denver would pop up faster
In terms of West Coast influence, that's a good question. I'd say they both have their fair share, but I'd give the slight edge to Denver.
In terms of Western influence...Denver is a Western city while Austin is not, so that's a ridiculous question.
This is a very fair point to raise and why, unlike a certain hockey forum I frequent, I appreciate that mods 'round these parts don't shut down landslide polls.
Yes, the answer is Denver by all modern senses of the definition, and certainly geographically, but that doesn't mean there isn't interesting discussion beyond the question itself about Denver's 'edge of the west' differences (or similarities in terms of gold prospectors) compared to coastal western culture, and similarly how Austin historically was a city near the former western frontier, with Barton Springs even before the Austin settlement proving to be a fruitful ground for nomadic passersby.
Denver doesn't have "Western influence", it influences the West.
Lol no.
