From the lush forests and greenery of Pittsburgh to the trails and nearby mountains of Knoxville, which of these two beautiful eastern metros would be your pick as the more naturally beautiful?
Pittsburgh city has much better scenery than Knoxville city. But for the metro areas, Knoxville's got this. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is partially in the Knoxville MSA (Blount County) including these areas, pics from wikimedia.
Pittsburgh has a stunning skyline amongst hilly terrain. But the area surrounding Pittsburgh is rolling hills and most very built up--full of suburbs--some wealthy, and some poor. The hill country in western PA can range from very pretty to very depressing.
The Knoxville area is much less built up and more naturally green, with higher mountains and just an overall beautiful part of the country.
