Hawaii edition! We got Honolulu, the capital and primary hub of Hawaii, versus Hilo on the big island.

To anyone lucky enough to visit these two gorgeous cities, which had the superior natural scenery?

Been to both. Hilo and it's not even close. But it rains a lot, so I prefer Honolulu.

The rain is exactly why Honolulu is the prettier city/ natural environment. Not only is Hilo cloudy most of the time (Hilo 41% chance of sunshine average vs 68% in Honolulu, not a single month in Hilo with >50% chance of sun), but all that rain causes rivers to dump a lot of sediment into the Bay. Instead of tropical, clear, turquoise water, you have murky brown water in Hilo. Those 272 rainy days in Hilo bringing 126 inches of rain a year do give Hilo some nice waterfalls, and the vegetation is lush, but I'll take blue skies and clear water. Plus, Honolulu has Dianond head framing, there is no equivalent in Hilo.

The Ko'olau Mountains and turquoise waters make me pick Honolulu.

I’ve only been to Hilo once, but from what I recall, Honolulu is prettier.

Haven't been to Hawaii but in pictures Honolulu looks like it has a nicer setting with the mountains nearby and crystal clear water. Hilo is obviously still very striking though

Frankly Hilo is not attractive for Hawai'i standards.

I didn't go to the beach in Hilo, but the other side of the island had nice beaches.

Probably quite biased as I found as a whole Hawai'i island to be much more attractive than Oahu, so I went with Hilo but as City vs City Honolulu is much better in almost every category.
