This isn't to say that the current population and leadership haven't made missteps, but put the blame where it squarely belongs: on Southern state governments indifferent or outright hostile to progress in majority Black cities that suffer from stereotypes they aren't even responsible for. And they have PLENTY of genuine Southern Hospitality to offer. I totally understand the need to have to live in larger, more progressive cities for the sake of advancing one's career and having access to more amenities and opportunities, but let's be honest about what's happening here.

And let it be known that it was the Black population in Macon, Augusta, Albany, and all of those other 'despised' cities folks like to look down on that also helped flip Georgia this year.
Beautiful post, Mute.

Thank you.

The general theme with smaller large cities is that their smallish. A sizeable percentage of the population are used to the top 20 metros for nearly everything ( amenities/ economy/ etc). So the criticizing starts there off the bat.

People hit the same note about cities like these: High crime , Lack of opportunity, Social Progressive, Economics , Infrastructure, Amenities.

I think each note should be examine thoroughly before just generally throwing out disregard. As it been mentioned earlier that sone of the more regional tier cities shares similar issues. So does it comes down to putting up with these issues due to having larger quantity of other options?

Overall it's going to be a long haul for these places since their a lack of mainstream attention to attract a wave of entrepreneurs/residents & drab stereotypes that keep it's image off putting in national view.

Creation of an independent black-majority country situated in the Southeastern United States, in the heart of an area of black-majority population.
Payment by the federal government of several billion dollars in reparations to African-American descendants of slaves for the damages inflicted on Africans and their descendants by chattel enslavement, Jim Crow laws, and modern-day forms of racism.
A referendum of all African Americans to determine their desires for citizenship; movement leaders say their ancestors were not offered a choice in this matter after emancipation in 1865 following the American Civil War.
The vision for this country was first promulgated by the Malcolm X Society[2] on March 31, 1968, at a Black Government Conference held in Detroit, Michigan. The conference participants drafted a constitution and declaration of independence,[2] and they identified five Southern states (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina) as subjugated national territory.[1]"

This is not Black supremacy.

I think some people need lessons focused on vocabulary-building and critical reading skills.

So taking over the southern united states and kicking out all of the non black people isn't black supremacy? LOL!

I will refrain for talking anymore about politics but that is just ridiculous.

There is nothing there about taking over the south or kicking anyone out.

But even if there was, does that group control Jackson?

I'm very affected by natural setting, so I have to go with Macon on this one. It has a nice, rolling to hilly Piedmont setting, at least on the northern side. The proximity to both Atlanta and Savannah is also a huge plus. I have highly unfavorable opinions of the other three cities, although Montgomery has been adding some cool things, and I think maybe Jackson has as well. All four of these cities have among the worst climates the South has to offer, with brutal summers and no sea breeze relief.
