Crazy that LV has more store in Vegas than NYC. I think there are 5 standalone stores in Manhattan (not counting department stores).
None of them compare to the flagship store on fifth Avenue. That store is also about to expand big time as they are going to tear down the current 19 story structure and rebuild a bigger flagship store. The property will expand and extra 122,000 sqft. It will serve also as the North American Headquarters.
Nothing I’m saying here is out of dislike for SF or out of promoting the “California is dying” rhetoric. But I do wonder what’s driving the retail exodus of downtown SF.
AT&T isn’t luxury, but it’s absolutely relevant for the topic that was being discussed here on the shopping leaving downtown SF.
But this thread isnt about non luxury so this is actually NOT relevant at all. IKEA is moving into DT SF but we didnt mention that because it's not a luxury brand.
And if you want to compare DOWNTOWN SHOPPING, luxury or otherwise, that would be my ABSOLUTE PLEASURE.

I wonder if Bloomingdale's will exit DT San Fran since its located next to Nordstrom and attached to the mall.
But I digress. Perhaps this earlier post struck a nerve:

I think looking at the area it is a redistribution of where people are shopping and catering more to local foot traffic. Look at the San Jose Westfield & Palo Alto Stanford Shopping Centers newly added tenants as they area grows and they can pull away some of the market exclusives to other places than Union Square. Even Marin is starting to stand on its own and attract unique tenants.
In San Francisco though Saint Laurent // Hermes // Brunello Cucinelli // Bottega Veneta are all recently renovated/ expanded with Chanel is planning a new 3/4 story boutique.
If a store has left such as Christian Louboutin // Jimmy Choo // Arcteryx // CB2 they have all reopened in San Jose. Or Anthropologie // Allsaints // Arcteryx // The RealReal reopening in Palo Alto.
