Do you know when official Canadian 2021 populations for cities and provinces will be released, or where I can find it?

It appears much of the uptick in homicides in Montreal is the cause of gang feud between Blood/Crip factions. It's a shame that American gang culture has found itself there despite have no real connection, but it's fortunate that Montreal has only as many homicides as it does with 2 million in the city proper.

Sometime next year for the census, we're still waiting for island of Montreal projections via Quebec statistic institute, which has not come out yet and is later than usual.

As for your post, crazy thing is that most homicides came from domestic disputes and bloods vs bloods. There's two factions fighting each other in the East End (Profit boyz/Zone 43). It is similar to what you see in the U.S, in the form of dissing each other in rap videos and then people get gunned down. I know one of the leaders (I forget of which faction) wants to make it big in Florida and to show that people in Canada can be "just as crazy" or "crazier" than in the U.S. That video is still circulating on insta and TikTok. It's honestly a strange thing and sad that this mentality is coming to the city and I pray all three levels of government invest in the youth to prevent this from spreading further.

You don’t think Canadians buy illicit drugs?

The whole North American Drug/Human Trafficking system is connected. There has been a surge in Mexico over the last few years too.

Richmond has hit 90 murders, the most since 2004...

Richmond's 90 murders aren't even in its top 15 highest homicide years, other cities are setting and breaking local records. Rich has roughly the same number of Homicides as places like Cincy (91) and Clt (94)...

Here's a question, does anyone know any geographic areas of cities that have a murder rate of 50+ or 100+? Richmond's East End is its smallest geographic region (~27,000) but numbered it's 27th homicide early this week, effectively giving it a rate of 100 per 100,000. Wildly violent ~4.8 mi²...

Rich doesn't have another side over 50 but North Rich is close, 17 murders this year for a rate of 48.57 (pop. ~35,000)...

West End Richmond (pop. ~56,000) has its pockets but is largely safe compared to the rest of the city. 9 murders, 16.07 rate...

South Richmond (pop. ~97,000) is by far the largest geographic area of town, and has had 33 murders for a rate of 34.02...
Id assume most cities with a homicide issue have areas with rates of 50+. Ward 8 DC has around 77 with 86k in 8.7 square miles

That mentality didn't come to that city it was already there for decades.

St Louis has had 185 homicides this year. Last year around this time it had about 255. The total Homicide count for last year was 263.

Kansas City is at 154 and last year’s total was 179. Currently the 2nd deadliest year ever for Kansas City.

Now That’s ridiculous. And many would problem overlook New Mexico as a quiet desert state but it’s far from it.

People's perception if NM changed thanks to Breaking Bad ironically so this is not too surprising for many. ABQ has always had its seediness but yeah this is very high.
