For Newport East(CDP), the black percentage is 8.4%(10.7% inc. in combo) out of 11,925 people, with the black median household income at $52,969(poverty rate at 5.2%). It is located in the town of Middletown.

So, these are some places in that area that appear to have at least some degree of a black middle class outside of the immediate Providence area.

Montello, Brockton comes to mind too.

Recently a huge influx of African Americans because its really inexpensive for the Boston area. You can snag up a SFH in good condition for under 500k in Montello Brockton.

Some census tracts in that general area: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...2-plymouth-ma/

It looks like a substantial black middle class spills over into adjacent parts of Avon, Stoughton and Holbrook too. Avon: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...71-norfolk-ma/

Stoughton: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...01-norfolk-ma/

Holbrook: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...11-norfolk-ma/

Wow in 2000, that Holbrook tract was 4% black. Now almost 20%.

I used to live right next to that tract.

Yeah, it looks like the Randolph/Stoughton/Avon/Holbrook/NE Brockton continuous area looks to be an area with a growing black middle class and perhaps one to keep an eye on in the near future. What is nice is that it is in between Boston and Providence. That could mean that it could be a good option for those that work in either city.

Also, the nearby areas of Milton and (South) Boston neighborhoods also have a substantial black middle class as well. So, it looks like it is heading from there going south.

Yeah West Milton IIRC is close to 45% black now. Schools look like 50%+ Black.https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...62-norfolk-ma/ This tract is 41% Black with an average income of 114k. Wow.

Yes and this is in a highly regarded school district as well. So, the Boston area does have at least one example of a community with a very visible black middle class in a very good SD. That area is also close to Mattapan Square, which is a walkable, shopping district: https://www.google.com/maps/@42.2676...2!9m2!1b1!2i37

This is just to the west of that business district/just north of West Milton: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...01-suffolk-ma/

Even in the Milton Village area in NE Milton, it is a higher income area with a decent black population: https://censusreporter.org/profiles/...63-norfolk-ma/

Some Milton school information: https://www.greatschools.org/massach...ilton/schools/

Milton High is about 20% black: https://reportcards.doe.mass.edu/2020/01890505

I believe that this is the elementary school that covers West Milton: https://nces.ed.gov/globallocator/sc...D=250798001263
