KC overall is a better sports town than Vegas. However when you factor in the money, glitz, etc it's probably leaning towards Vegas. With so much Cali spillover it can definitely support it.

My thought is KC might be tapped from a sports perspective and Las Vegas we really don't know what type of sports town it is. Its only ever had a chance for some hockey games-juuuust now. We don't know what type of culture could form in Vegas within 15 years. Especially if a team wins alot.

Yup. A lot of it is the difference between a city that's done growing vs one of the fastest growing cities in the country. Without a doubt Vegas will continue to develop a more ardent pro sports culture as the Knights and Raiders get more established there. From the little I've seen (not a big hockey fan) the Knights already do have a strong following and a Cup appearance to boot. I was actually in LV the night of the clincher against the Caps and the town was pretty lit hoping for a better ending. The region's growth combined with people putting down real roots out there should make it a solid sports town. And obviously, winning will only accelerate that.

What makes you think Kansas City is “done growing”? As far as I know it’s doing pretty well

It’s doing fine. The KC area has always seen steady growth, with much of it coming from neighboring areas.
Compared to Vegas, meh, Vegas seems like the kind of place that could struggle to really establish a fan base especially considering all the entertainment competition that exists there.
They lucked out with the Raiders who’s quirky fans seem to follow them wherever. Should the professional sports realm get back to some form of normal, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if they moved back to Oakland 10-15 years from now.

If not mentioned yet, the last KC nba team shared its home games with Omaha for their first three years, eventually moving to even a smaller market, (at the time), Sacramento in ‘85. They were actually known as the Kansas City/Omaha Kings at one time. Kind of embarrassing for KC.
The Raiders also have a 30 year lease at Allegiant. They're not going anywhere.
