Austin pretty easily from this list, Charlotte a distant second. Charlotte and Nashville would seem similar on superficial glance, but in feel, they are totally different IMO. Nashville has homogenized into the American tech culture, whereas Charlotte has only improved itself overall IMO, and has not attracted the same "tech bro" vibe.
If I could change my vote (Atlanta), I’d go with Austin and then Charlotte. Nashville kind of seems like a combination of both cities, with a hint of Lexington thrown in (Louisville is probably more similar to Memphis).
For Austin, there’s the music culture, obviously. Bars with live music, vibrancy, popular among young people, etc. There’s something about Texas that reminds me of Tennessee, oddly enough.
For Charlotte, there’s the Upper South culture (Scots-Irish/Appalachian influences), Bible Belt legacy, and a similar appearance in general. Lots of new construction, apartment complexes, downtown buildings, etc.
I think its Austin I do see some similarities with Charlotte but not as much....Education is a big selling point for Nashville the number of Colleges and Universities in the area is really impressive....Ppl say the Triangle area due to the focus on Education and high growth etc but the Triangle with its multi nodal nature is just a different beast imo.
