Which has a higher SOL and QOL? Which is laid-back? Which has more amenities. I'd also like to know if you're liberal or conservative. That would give me a clearer picture.

I don't think I would live in either.. both are good. But definitely not top tier.
I can think of a handful of addresses that are more 'elite' (?) than both of these, a few in CA too. (ie, Nantucket, Newport, Hamptons, South Beach, Santa Monica, Huntington Beach, Malibu).

Both are pretty meh in the poll to me. Im also very liberal, not sure why that matters?

Neither....but if forced to select one from just those two I would go with Manhattan Beach which at least gives you proximity to other neighborhoods in LA, unless you happen to prefer sleepy (and uptight) bedroom communities. I’m socially liberal, fiscally conservative.

Santa Monica, off of Montana Avenue and by “the steps”, is more my cup of tea.

Manhattan Beach afaik is much denser and closer to the core LA neighborhoods, so I picked that. I really don't care about being close to water, though. I'm liberal, socially and fiscally.

Huntington Beach is not 'elite' at all. It is a sprawling mostly middle class suburb. Neighboring Newport Beach down the coast is much more upscale.

Manhattan Beach is more or less "in LA", and it's a really great, upscale town with terrific schools, like the best climate in LA imo, and right next to LAX, what's not to like?

I’m not sure how you define “elite”, but Manhattan Beach is much more expensive than South Beach (about 4 times as much) and Huntington Beach isn’t elite anywhere. But I don’t know that makes it “elite”. Lots of sports people live there along with lots of lawyers, doctors, business owners and other high paid professionals. But it’s mostly normal looking. Houses that look like they should be $760,000 are $2 million. Large homes on single lots are 2-3 times that. Beach houses on small lots with no yard are over $10 million.

I work in LA, so Manhattan. If I worked in OC and could afford it, probably Laguna Beach. Newport Beach if I owned a boat.
