These two cities have been hit by a recent stigma that has put a negative image on their respective city. To me, both of these are everyone deciding to shame one for generic urban American problems. But without a doubt? They’re receiving an negative association as a result. Which has impacted the city’s image more?

Boston racism is the furthest thing from a recent stigma.

And the reason it has that stigma is because compared to most major cities, it is culturally way more alienating towards ADOS and hispanic people.

That said, the stigma about crime in Chicago is grossly overplayed. It's not even a top 30 city for violent crime rates and we all know much of the crime is restricted to a specific side of the city.

I’m not sure when it began. But it’s certainly gained momentum recently

The OP already knows it is the Chi-raq stigma that is worse. He mentioned it in another thread. The Boston stereotype is not really a global media stereotype like Chi-raq. Even Chicago’s North Side has a similar stereotype. It’s more about older perception. Whereas the Chiraq stereotype is a media buzz, so it’s more impactful.

Chicago's Chiraq thing is far more detrimental to the city's image as it literally destroys the reputation of Chicago. Also, far more people believe Chicago is a war zone than Boston is racist as the Chiraq thing is rather new.

Both institutional and casual forms of racism are getting more attention in general as of late because of the racially-motivated high-profile events that have occurred over the past few years in cities where disadvantaged minorities make up a releatively small part of the population (similar to Boston).

I mentioned Boston in there too. It just didn’t take off as much as Chicago. Both people who “didn’t know” such a stigma was going around and people who agreed mentioned it more.

I voted Chicago though

Yes, interesting...good way to bash Chicago, though. As I said (in the other thread), Chicago is pretty big, and the entire city isn't crime-infested. Anyone who reads, knows this, too.

Small part of population? You do know Boston is majority minority

That’s not really a good argument. That would only make it worse. Supposing Boston is majority minority, it still has historic levels of wealth distribution that don’t care about the majority in town
