Dude this isn’t an argument. She’s tweeted said. IG’d pic in Larry Bird jerseys, said it in multiple interviews. Take it up with Coi, lol.
Whose arguing? I’ve seen her interviews before and she reps NJ. Why is she so serious about NJ support if Boston means that much to her? Wasn’t she an infant when she left Boston anyway? Lol
She even puts her location as NJ in that new video with Young Bleu lol
DFW isn't lackluster, has a very decent scene, but If you're not into the new-age rap/trap, than it wouldn't be on your radar and could appear that way.
Cleveland has... Bone Thugs and that's it to my knowledge. Milwaukee... Can't name you one with a gun to my head.
Bone Thugs, Kid Cudi and Machine Gun Kelly (even though he’s milked the culture and moved onto rock now).

Interestingly, while Chavo has spent much of his career in Atlanta and Coi Leray’s breakout hit featured Chicago artist Lil Durk, both siblings are quick to reference Boston as their musical breeding ground.
In her Hypebae interview, Leray was asked about her Boston roots, responding, “The support system is crazy and they know music. They love trap music out there. All of my family is out there so they’re just a big influence.” In the same vein, Chavo is excited for what the future of Massachusetts hip-hop has in store, telling Makin Moves Tv, “I feel like this year and next year a lot of artists from Mass are going to shine.” He goes on to explain there are many buzzing artists already from Massachusetts, including Millyz from Cambridge, who is signed to Jadakiss, as well as Cousin Stizz, who has made songs with the likes of Offset and Freddy Gibbs.
Obviously she claims it. Ik it’s a bit of an Olympic sport to discredit Boston whenever possible, but you gotta chill. It’s possible to be from two places. Anyway she’s been in LA since she was a teenager. But yea I’ve like got actual pictures of her in Boston, a few years back. She was often up there
DC folks seem to like more ATL oriented rap and Shy Glizzy/Yung Gleesh/Fat Trel.
Idk how they feel about Rico Nasty but they prolly like her. I know they don’t like Logic. And idk how they feel about IDK but he’s the man too.
I can’t do any go go unless it’s Chuck Brown. Especially not some of the screechy newer go go. I prefer Bmore Club by a lot. Baltimore rap could be a lot better if they made a concerted effort to tell their stories and be more lyrical. Too much serious sigh in Bmore for folks to be doing run of the mill trap. Albeit the pace is generic and I like that.
Here’s one Bmore song I like and want to hear more like it
Rico nasty is definitely popularly among young women in Maryland. I know some people who went to school with her actually. logic is definitely not a fan favorite but he does have a lot of fans low key.
DC is very southern oriented as far as rap. The most popular rappers playing on the streets are all Atlanta and southern rappers.
As a Jersey native I’m a Fan of club music since our scene is derived from bmore music. Gogo is cool but not I’m not a huge fan. I only really come across it when I’m not out and about in the city or at clubs. You’ll find a lot of folks playing gogo out of their cars in DC and PG and selling gogo CDs at certain places tho.
I don’t consider cities and metros with a low black population to have a thriving hip hop scene anyway so yea Seattle metro not having one is not surprising.
Seattle and Phoenix are both about 6% Black but Seattle has a substantially better hip-hop scene than Phoenix, so it's not just % Black.
^yeah I just found out TechN9ne was from KC in this thread. but yea anyplace with one single artist cant be ranked above Dallas or Boston that both have multiple artists.
I wouldn't say "everybody sounds like everybody" but distinctions are not as distinct anymore. No way you'd confuse a Toronto rapper for one from Baton Rouge. The content in some cities is different, at the very least the delivery is.
Now if that fades in 10 years I wouldn't be surprised.
True, Toronto music sounds a lot different than Baton Rogue but a lot of Baton Rogue artist sound no different than a lot of other southern artist I hear. Like I said the only difference is the accents and slang.
The major reason for the decline of regional distinction in hip-hop is a result of the internet. The internet has exposed regions to one another and as a result people have merged sounds together. Plus the producers a lot of these artist are working with are from different parts of the country. No longer do you have to rely on the local producer for a record. You can just search on sound cloud or twitter and link up with producer from anywhere.
Now as far as some of these newer Toronto rappers, I definitely don't hear a distinct sound. Some of these cats are Chicago Drill/NY drill knock offs. It's just with a Toronto perspective.

Maryland has much more and better rappers than DC does.
Lowkey, DMV got some really talented artist. Years ago when I was in the music industry I use to pay attention to what was going on out there. They had so many different rappers/r&b singers/ and producers coming out that area at one point in time.
