Denver is under 4 million in pop. it’s funny that most people are surprised by this
Damn well Denver punches above its weight then in terms of feeling like a big city/metro then. It feels bigger than Phoenix and about the same as Boston and Seattle.

Boston probably falls in some level of a tie with Dallas but still above Seattle. There arent enough popular artists from ther that Dallas washes Boston and Boston has more of a history/media presence so far as I know. Whats the big difference between Dallas and Boston?

Phoenix being way below probably even below Portland and Las Vegas.

I knew one rapper from Denver, Pries. One from Vegas, Dizzy Wright.

Pries was corny:

Dizzy Wright was alright but could be corny at times:

Yea I don't see how Denver feels so big, it reminds me of more green Vegas in terms of how it feels size-wise to me. Core city is mid-size, some suburbs then abrupt development ends. Not as sprawly as Phoenix. S

Phoenix did have Hot Rod(G-Unit) and Willy Northpole...neither one blew up but I mean those the only rappers I can think of from Phoenix.

Also, Dallas? I thought it was a good hip hop/rap scene.
Not sure if this was mentioned as I didn't feel like going through 11 pages, but Sir-Mix-a-Lot is from Seattle, and it had an underground scene with rappers like Kid Sensation.

ParaguaneroSwag mentioned Baton Rogue punching above it's weight, and I agree 100%. It's remarkable how it's scene remained relevant even throughout New Orleans' peak era, unlike Milwaukee and Indianapolis which gets overlooked by Chicago.

I'm not sayin the OP meant for this but I feel like the arbitrary 4 million thing just ends up making Phoenix look bad.

There are a bunch of metros that are just a little smaller than Phoenix which have similar or even worse hip hop scenes, like Denver, San Diego, Portland, Las Vegas, Twin Cities, but since they can't be included Phoenix is getting beat up (as usual for these boards) even though it's not that different than a lot of it's peer metros.

I noticed this and brought it up earlier.

Baton Rouge also beats any city in this list which is crazy considering it’s size.
