So-called "progressive" states/cities/metro areas have the highest costs of living, worst buying power, most crime, lowest home ownership rates, most overreaching governments, highest homelessness rates, most rioting/looting/violence/social unrest, etc. Stats and data prove this as an inarguable fact. All of those aspects destroys the quality of life in any area. That's far from the definition of progressive in its literal sense. PA wins this.

The wealthiest / highest income states lean democrat or moderate. So yes, the most expensive states are generally Democrat or moderate. That's pretty much the equation. Now, a real argument can be made for why that is. I'd point to avg. educational attainment in the wealthiest states, and educational attainment being an indicator of progressivism more than i'd associate the wealth to policy. But, that's not the debate at hand.
As for crime, that's.. Well, that just incorrect. From the Census:
Can you maybe explain your position in more detail? I understand gun control has not curbed gun violence. Is that more what you mean by violence and crime?
Both are good options... except the winters are too cold to someone accustomed to CA weather.
