Combined metros versus a larger one used to be done all the time, I thought this combination would be interesting. On its own, OKC wasn’t equally matched with Charlotte. How about throwing Tulsa in the mix?
Charlotte is far too overwhelming. More competitive choices against OKC/Tulsa would be Portland, Sacramento or San Antonio. But try proving that I'm wrong!

I’m not saying Charlotte loses, but I think people are severely downplaying Tulsa here. For example, some people say Tulsa has better shopping and entertainment venues than OKC. Both combination against CLT should be much more powerful.
And as far as the cities you mention, Charlotte is in that class with Portland imo. They are about equal.
OKC and Tulsa would be more compelling if there were high-speed rail between the two. Can’t say I’m a fan of the turnpike.
For the criteria given, 2 cities versus 1, I think it’s close.
Wouldn’t actually live in any of these, but voted for the Oklahoma cities. They’re not horrible, and Charlotte isn’t my cup of tea.
