Out of these two cities, which would you rather take a vacation to? Which one do you think has more to do for a tourist? Please list attractions and anything else that would be of interest to a visitor.
Vegas if you want excited and plenty to see and do. Phoenix if you want that laid back West Coast vibe. You can't lose with either honestly.
You can be laid back in Vegas- Lake Mead, Red Rock and ample golf courses. Go catch a minor league baseball game out in Summerlin if you want. Summerlin also has an extensive park system.
I've been to Phoenix twice in the past month for business, and took the kids both times. I've been to Vegas many times in my life. I can honestly say (with kids) that Phoenix is much more of a vacation spot. However, if I'm single or with my wife then I might hedge closer to Vegas but still it's much closer than I thought one month ago.

That's true, but do you think as many people go to Vegas to relax as they do to party?
Even Reno probably has more to do for tourists than Phoenix. Not even including Tahoe.
Phoenix just isn't a tourist-oriented city.
That's such BS. While true that not many US cities cannot compete with Vegas when it comes to tourism, let's not minimize other locales. After NYC, Las Vegas, and Chicago, Scottsdale (alone) is tied with Atlanta as having the most AAA Five Diamond hotels and resorts. Also, as of 2016, Scottsdale had the highest number of destination spas per capita in the country.
