Portsmouth - 9
Norfolk - 8
Hampton - 5
Chesapeake - 3
Newport News - 1
Virginia Beach - 1

This gives Portsmouth one of the highest rates in the country so far.
Always surprised Newport News numbers aren't higher.

The weather probably helps. It will be interesting to see if numbers in Boston stay low even as things warm up.

No I don’t think it’s the weather. see Minneapolis, Buffalo, Chicago, New York, Seattle. Places with long periods of crap weather.

The weather is the weather every year. And Hartford has the same weather as Boston. Boston didn’t suddenly become educated, cold, or immigrant heavy in 2021.

This made no sense whatsoever. And if you think Lawrence is Boston ive got news for you..

Moving to Boston though...many years go by when Boston has a similar homicide rate to ABQ which further emphasizes my point we are in an aberration. I also think that Boston has been proven a very low opportunity area for black and latino children. More so than Albuquerue.

Boston ranks low in opportunity for Hispanic, African-American children

Opportunity levels for Hispanic and African-American children in the Boston area are akin to Milwaukee and Youngstown, Ohio, metros where higher percentages of children live in poverty, the data showed.

And for these children, Boston is one of the most segregated metros in the county. About 72 percent of African-American children and 66 percent of Hispanic children would need to relocate to another neighborhood for their current home to reflect the racial makeup of the larger metro area.

“It’s not that these inequities don’t exist in other metros, but one of the places that they are the most dramatic is Boston,” said Acevedo-Garcia.

Mass. named worst state for Latinos

So its actually a really good question.

Amazing how Boston is called out for segregation and low minority opportunity in any other thread (except for me), but is now a bastion of upward mobility for Latinos and no longer socially segregated according to Joakim and naderb? Hmm...Im telling yall/ you wont find a demographic answer to this anomally. This is more about policing, community, culture, governance, and other things. It’s not going to fit neatly into a box.
It's always multi-faceted incidents and most people can't helped the simplified solution approach. I will say that broadly for Aframs underbelly communities it's vendetta cycles, community-police relations, drug abuse/influence, & generational misguidance. Vendetta cycles are a plurality to majority of violent crimes and homicides. Moreso than cliches of gang & drug violence (except L.A county & Cook county gang scenes & degrees of flunctuation).

I remember when I lived in San Diego the locals believed the reason why the crime rate is so low is because the sunny and warm weather makes everyone happy, same with LA and Miami.

Boston went a full month, and now is on a 37 day streak without a single murder. Overall crime is way down.

It is safer than all major US Cities from on a Murder, Violent Crime, and Non-Violent Crime Rate.

The Metro stands at 4 murders (MSA).

The city of firsts reaches new heights.

A double shooting takes place once again in Ocean View, a woman injured and man dead. Bringing Norfolk’s total to 9.
