Moving from the Missouri Bootheel to either Conway, AR or Jonesboro, AR. Is Little Rock a safer city to commute to or is Memphis? I don't wanna be mugged while shopping at the Bass Pro Shop or strolling downtown.

This is a thread I'll be bookmarking, since I'm curious to see the post comments from others. Little Rock is a city I've always wanted to visit, but still haven't yet. OTOH, have been to Memphis. My first glance and gut feelings make me suspect the Little Rock area has less crime, but what do I know?

Doubt you’ll be mugged at Bass Pro in Memphis or walking in the downtown area(last visited 2017). The areas surrounding downtown Memphis is what you’d have to worry about. Little Rock (last visit 2019) has nothing going on and at a glance its downtown looks more sketchy than Memphis.

I've street viewed Little Rock's downtown, before myself. While it may not be quite as happening as the one in Memphis, it seemed fine to me. And a la Memphis, Little Rock has a nice looking park in its downtown riverfront.
Also, don't forget for Little Rock, that you can walk or take a streetcar north to North Little Rock, and find more things to do in that neighboring city across the river. North Little Rock seems underrated, from what I was able to research about that city online myself.
I have this weird feeling, Little Rock isn't as boring as some people make it out to be like. Even if the national media rarely ever writes up about Little Rock, and that it doesn't get writen up in travel books as often as it should. Of course I don't dispute Memphis is bigger and has obviously more things to do, but I'm sure Little Rock isn't a bad city either. It seems at first glance like the most Milwaukee like city(for Chicago, a smaller city not too far away), of Memphis. And that I get this sense Little Rock has a little more hilly topography in certain neighborhoods of that city(like say in some of LR's northwest and west side neighborhoods), vs. Memphis where it appears to mostly be flat throughout that city.
Jonesboro to Memphis would be a long commute (70+ miles each way). If you were working in Memphis, you could live in Tennessee and not pay income tax so dont know why you would consider Jonesboro with a job in Memphis.
Conway to LR is a more reasonable commute (30 miles each way).
LR is fine. Sure there is crime, what city these days has no crime? But I have been there many, many times and never had any issues. Of course there are neighborhoods to avoid, particularly at night. The downtown area is nice. Its small but the riverwalk area, the parks along the river, restaurants, etc are nice.
