What does the lower percentage of black population have to do with it? The West and particularly the west coast also has a lower percentage of whites as well. I don’t think one has to do with the other. It’s just historically been a more open place and that is the more relevant factor IMO.
This whole notion that racism dies once you head west is a myth, black/white couples face discrimination all throughout this country. The West just appears more open to it because there's not many black/white couples to begin with so you won't hear about much hostility.

Right, so racism does not have to be dead in the West for it to be more open than other regions in the United States. The West appears more open because it is more open.
According to this study which is based on frequency of google searches for the N word the most racist areas are the South and the rural Northeast. People who say the South is the most accepting is confusing sheer numbers of such couples to positive attitudes toward them. The West in general, including red states like Utah and Montana, are less racist.

Asinine conclusion. The map is dealing with the “n word” and black people. Of course the general areas with the highest black populations will be the most racist in that regard.
The better conclusion is anything but, it’s a question. Why is it that so many areas with high black populations generate such responses? Surely it has nothing to do with the angels themselves.
I guess there must be a lot of black people in New Hampshire and upstate New York.
So those who say the South is the most accepting aren't using the same logic? That you see more of a certain thing then that means it's more accepted?
The question is about the general attitude, not whether this combination is prevalent or not. Not sure how to get objective data on the general attitude without taking demographics into account.
You sound like one of those who'd be not accepting of the topic in question. Let me guess. You live in the South and would rather that be the area winning the poll.

Some of the smaller industrial towns in the Midwest/Great Lakes probably have the highest percent of black/white biracial populations, so I would assume they are accepting.
This is just typing in some high schools in Ohio (2020-21 numbers per NCES):
Sandusky:
Total: 912
White: 363
Black: 347
Two or more: 161
Hispanic: 39
Asian: 1
American Indian: 1
The two or more equals 17.7 percent and considering the white alone and black alone populations, a pretty safe bet that almost all of that 17.7 percent is black/white mixed kids.
Lima Senior
Total: 1,024
Black: 460
White: 358
Two or more: 153
Hispanic: 50
Asian: 1
American Indian: 1
14.9 percent classified as two or more, almost all likely black/white.
Warren Harding:
Total: 1,178
Black: 498
White: 477
Two or more: 161
Hispanic: 37
Asian: 4
American Indian: 1
13.6 percent two ore more, likely all black/white
Mansfield Senior:
Total: 826
White: 388
Black: 293
Two or more: 116
Hispanic: 24
American Indian: 2
Asian: 0
14 percent two or more, likely all black/white

Very good point, as diverse, smaller cities in the Midwest and Northeast that say have only one high school or are limited in the amount of schools they can attend makes it to where you almost have to interact with different types of people. This is an example of what you are referring, but in Upstate NY where all the two or more races is essentially black/white: https://data.nysed.gov/enrollment.ph...d=800000054148 (used to have 2 HS's, but now has 1 and it is an enlarged SD that covers some rural and suburban areas outside of that city)
Another example from Upstate NY, that is a little more complicated due to a substantial and growing Hispanic(largely PR) population, but is likely similar: https://data.nysed.gov/enrollment.ph...d=800000040585 (keep in mind in NY, Hispanic can include those of any race. So, the other groups are non-Hispanic.)
On a side note, something to consider with the West is that that much of the black population in many of the areas out West are attached to the military. What people may not realize is that the ratio of black males is higher out West and in turn, you actually may have more black men than black women available. So, you may see a bm/ww couple a bit more out West for this reason. Areas such as San Diego and Seattle are known for having more black men than black women in those areas for that reason, to the point Ebony Magazine in the early 90's mentioned San Diego as a city to meet single black men. https://books.google.com/books?id=_M...%20men&f=false

Don’t know about that. Even Miami with the largest truly white hispanic populace is not more than 50% of them.
I believe in the 2020 census, they changed the race question a bit and the proportion of Hispanics identifying as white had dropped precipitously.
Just because the West has the fewest blacks, does it mean mixed couples of the like would be more accepted there. There would just be a greater lack of hostile grievance off the cuff. Practice makes perfect for bad things to.
