Atlanta Metro 12%

Er, the rate of interracial marriage is usually higher if a given group’s population is relatively low in a given area.

Considering Atlanta’s super-large Black population—and the historical context of the United States—12% is really good/high.

I’ve actually heard this often about cities and communities in Appalachia.

A year or so after this thread was started and the region that has the only state that is in the top 5 of total black/white population in both percent and total numbers has grand total of 4 votes, lol.

This is about the one area where Ohio outpaces every other state. I wouldn't be surprised if Ohio has the top 6 cities in percent where at least 2,000 people claim to be black/white mix. ... Lima, Canton, Mansfield, Elyria, Middletown and Springfield all meet that criteria and all are over 4 percent black/white in total population (which is about 1 percent nationally).

Yeah, those Appalachian areas of Eastern Ohio/pan handle WV/western PA all seem to have mixed (black/white) populations that are close to being the same as their black alone numbers.

That's probably similar to the states in the west. Also makes the population seem bigger than it is.

But if you are looking to where it's most prevalent, those cities in Ohio above are at the top. Won't be long (5-10 years) before the "mixed" kids at those schools are the largest in plurality... and all of them are decent sized places (40-70k) so not like im talking places of about 300 people and 30 being black/white mixed.

Are Black/white interracial couples more white male/Black female or Black male/white female or both (relatively equal)?

80s/90s was way more black males/white females. But now it seems about 60/40 to 50/50. And mixed and mixed is a not uncommon. ... or mixed and Puerto Rican (who mostly are also some sort of African/Europe mix as well). ... white and Puerto Rican and black and Puerto Rican isn't uncommon either in Cleveland/Lorain/Elyria, so it truly is a "mix".

Places like Lima/Canton/Mansfield, though, the "mixed" population is probably still 90/95 percent black/white, with '"mixed" about to become the most common in their schools.

Black consciousness is at an all time high, so is internet white nationalism (secretly)

In Atlanta, for example, the black folks dislike IR in general. And mock celebs that date out as “corny” or “lame squares”. See urban commentary on Michael B Jordan. And I would say in cities like Boston its controlled in an Unspoken way, like a white gal who dates IR could never date back white after it seems who value goes down in a subconscious way (I’ve discussed this a lot with white friends, they tend to agree).

I would say in places like Kentucky, WV, rural Va and Ohio have the most of this on a percentage basis. So upper south and Midwest, most of the kids in these areas are mixed now. And I think its because all communities in these areas see class a lot more, the few black folks there in those spots barely have that Dr.Umar ideologythats prominent in very black areas, they stlll have that “judge by the content of character” thing in their head

I typed my comment before I saw yours, WV and Kentucky are filled with lower class (economically) whte women and blue collar/ hood brothas who come in from Detroit to make money, or the ones in places like Charleston, Louisville, Lexington, Huntington and Beckley. I spent lots of time in this area .. they think its weird to even ask why so many date interracially, its a wild thing that I wish someone had the courage to study.
