When you say the South do you mean ATL and the big cities in Florida and Texas?
I've been to Jackson and parts of the MS delta and didn't see a lot of integration on a social level. Most establishments and venues seem to be 90%+ of one race, and if you see a white person chances are they're foreign tourists. In Georgia outside of Atlanta metro there seemed to be confederate flags everywhere. I can't imagine those places would be that welcoming of interracial couples, or am I wrong?

I believe if you're talking about the lowest economic stratum in much of the south - like trailer parks and the like - things are actually pretty integrated. Despite stereotypes, the whole virulent racism/avoid black people like the plague thing is much more common in the South among the upper middle classes.

In many places outside of the Atlanta metro (Savannah, Athens, Columbus, Rome, Macon) it's welcome and they're more liberal. Even in some rural places that lean more conservative, I saw some prom photos where many of the couples were black/white. There are very few places where you will see confederate flags.

I thought about this, as to why some rural HS's in GA still(or did recently) have separate proms due to a variety of reasons. https://www.publicschoolreview.com/b...rsy-in-georgia

Sure, I expect things to be different in those blue bubbles. The same for Huntsville, AL or Oxford, MS. Although I have to say I didn't see a whole lot of black folks in Savannah or Charleston when I visited five years ago.

White-Asian and Black-Hispanic is pretty common though.

As I said earlier i like 95% sure a lot of the mixed race in MA and RI are just Cape Verdeans and Brazilians. It’s not actually “mixed race” people as we would think of it more commonly.

It’s definitely more common in NYC.
I was speaking specifically for white and Asian couples. I know Blacks and Whites don't mix in Boston but in NYC I didn't see too many noticeable interracial couple, it was mostly inter-ethnic couples. Italian and Jews or Korean and Chinese is an example of interracial couples in NYC at least from my experience. I have seen Black and Hispanic couples in NYC, but most don't end up marrying each other. In NYC it's more dating within your race but with a different nationality. Plenty of African Americans dates West Indians in Brooklyn since AA and Caribbean blacks are integrated in much of Brooklyn.

Yes this is how it is in Boston especially for black people. Interethnic. I just see more mixing in NYC it’s not terribly common, because it’s clearing a low bar in Boston. but it’s probably more accepted.

Could this be due to the higher than normal degree of ethnic diversity within each race in these cities? White and black ethnics are relatively uncommon in the South so the only way to date someone not like you is to cross racial lines.
