I would choose San Diego. There is greater variety. Gaslamp Quarter has something for younger and mature crowds. It feels safer and more pedestrian friendly than Orlando.
San Diego is more for a family in my opinion. The gas lamp district to me isn't but a few streets then everything drops off. I went to a club by myself and couldnt help but notice everybody had dirty shoes. Maybe because its the desert/ beach.

Nearby Eola/Thornton for the 30+ (more mature) crowds...
Far removed I-Drive, City Walk, Disney Springs for the tourists.
And the main streets downtown become pedestrian only... How is SD more pedestrian-friendly for nightlife than a downtown area that literally turns pedestrian only?

I disagree. This is mostly young 20s crowd stuff. Not much variety there. Lol at Disney Springs.
I did mention Thornton Park. Which is just East of Downtown. One of several areas. You missed that part.
The variety stems from the multiple different nightlife districts...
20s/rowdy: Downtown: Orange/Central/Church (Pedestrian only, but yet you say Orlando isn't pedestrian friendly for nightlife )
30+ Professionals: South Eola/Thornton Park, arguably also part of downtown. Also walkable.
30+ Professionals: Winter Park: Park Ave
Tourists (locals tend to avoid this area, which isn't close to downtown...) : I-Drive, City Walk, and YES, Disney Springs... Why are you dismissing the latter? It's a popular nightlife destination for tourists, and is busier at night than a lot of midsize city downtowns.

I am not going to a theme park for nightlife. I want authenticity. Orlando has much higher crime and I want to feel safe as a young woman at night. Orlando is not pedestrian friendly either.

1. Disney Springs is not a theme park. You don’t have to enter a theme park to get there either. It’s right off the highway. What makes you think it's a theme park? The name "Disney?"
This is the Walt Disney Amphitheatre: https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5440...7i13312!8i6656
Is this also a theme park?
2. I don’t go there for nightlife either. Notice I said it’s a destination for TOURISTS. Brought up for variety.
3. Again, pedestrian-friendly NIGHTLIFE. Downtown has its streets turned pedestrian-only. Your links have absolutely nothing to do with what this thread is about. No one is getting hit by cars downtown while enjoying the nightlife. And… Downtown as a whole is very pedestrian friendly even during the day. Your link is for METRO Orlando, which outside of the city, is, in fact, a sprawly mess. No one is getting run over by cars here: https://www.google.com/maps/@28.5413...7i16384!8i8192 lol
And ESPECIALLY not during nightlife hours.
4. Plenty of “authenticity” downtown and in adjacent neighborhoods. And again, yes, pedestrian-friendly.
5. Your link is about police strengthening their gun task force… They are actively taking measures to reduce crime downtown. How is that a bad thing?
Anyway... You've repeatedly said in previous threads that you "Know Downtown Orlando very well," yet also called it "fake, pretentious, and too touristy," all of which are nonsensical, especially the latter, and anyone who has ever set foot there would raise eyebrows at that.
Just admit it: You've never been there, and know absolutely nothing about the place.
