This might be the only Rust Belt vs. Southeast city matchup where the Rust Belt city is the overwhelming favorite to see a brighter future.

Does Milwaukee benefit from being closer to Chicago?

Folks are saying Milwaukee overwhelmingly, but I voted both. Memphis is developing decently well, and gentrifying. Milwaukee has some bright spots as well.

I say both do well in the future.

Milwaukee. The city is more attractive and has a better economy. The city has done more to generate growth and provide good jobs. Memphis is lackluster.

Milwaukee has a slightly better base for stem workers. Milwaukee msa has a poverty rate of around 13% compared to Memphis at 17%. Milwaukee is slightly better in terms of future vitality. I think Memphis is done when AI and automation hits.
