Dallas and LA are underwhelming. Seattle is impressive
I would not say LA and Dallas are underwhelming as of now. I think both have improved a lot in the last 10 years. I think the focus has been on density in Dallas. I think the current wave of new High-rises/mid-rises will further increase the demand for more.
It is unfortunate that hottest area in Dallas (Uptown) is under height restrictions and can’t really have taller buildings. An office building currently U/C was cut down a floor or two from 425 ft to 399 ft by the FAA. The area is filling in pretty quickly though. Especially, considering much of what you see north of Downtown didn’t exist in 2014. With all the projects announced for the area, it should look even better in the next 5 or so years. New projects have filed building permits to start with the tallest project overlooking KWP at 450 ft. Even though I’d much rather have skyscrapers, enough of these can still create a nice skyline. Honolulu and Vancouver are good examples IMO. The only chance for real height is the North End Development where Goldman Sachs will be located.

Ohh Man that sucks. So Dallas Can't build SuperTalls? (not that it needs to, Dallas can expand outward forever) But Still Supertalls are cool, Would that prevent Dallas from competing with Austin and Houston in the Supertall Department In the future

Yep, only a few areas in Downtown allow supertalls. Dallas’ current tallest — BOA Plaza was cut down a few floors due to Love Field in the 80s. Also in the 60s, Republic Center II (1964) was trying to regain the title of the tallest building in Dallas. Republic Center Tower I being the tallest west of the Mississippi from 1954-1959. But it only rose to 598 ft due to the FAA, slightly shorter than Republic Center I spire at 602 ft. A rival bank was also constructing a new tower in the 60s called the First National Bank Building, but it was cut down 96 ft — from 723 ft to 627 ft by the FAA. It still held the title as the tallest building west of the Mississippi from 1965-1969.
At least DT Miami has an area where they can be built. Here in Phoenix we do not have that benefit.
Isn't it kind of crazy how the FAA has so much influence over a City's development? Most US cities don't build taller than 1,000+ feet anyways but developers always have to get approval from them.
How many planes have actually crashed into Skyscrapers?
Downtown Seattle is restricted because of Boeing Field (King County International). A current proposal went down to 1,020 (more like 1,200 over sea level five blocks away) for this reason. After years of no apparent activity they're back in entitlements.
