1: Florida metros tend to be bigger than you'd think.

2: Savannah is a notably smaller metro than one'd think. Population-wise, it's Savannah, Biloxi, Corpus Christi, Mobile, Myrtle Beach, and Pensacola, but they're all pretty similar in population. Though, if considering combined statistical areas, Savannah jumps to number two after Mobile.

Interesting video of the top 20 US skylines that are fastest growing, from 2001 to 2025:

https://youtu.be/el6hJB6grRw

Here's the list--

**highrises and skyscrapers built and under construction, through 2025**

20 Minneapolis, 51
19 Tampa, 65
18 Charlotte, 65
17 Nashville, 74
16 Las Vegas, 78

15 San Diego, 81
14 Denver, 91
13 Los Angeles, 97
12 Austin, 99
11 Philadelphia, 102

10 Dallas, 136
9 San Francisco, 138
8 Boston, 163
7 Washington, DC, 166
6 Seattle, 170

5 Houston, 185
4 Atlanta, 224
3 Chicago, 372
2 Miami, 518
1 NYC, 1,237

*Nashville will have passed Charlotte by 2025 with their continuing boom
*Austin has bolted up past so many cities in the past decade or so, the growth is unbelievable
*Miami has surged past Chicago to claim the #2 spot in the US
*NYC is super far out of reach and in the lead, which I imagine it will keep, over the next 60-70 years+ at least

I was surprised by that, as well, Maybe they just missed the top 20? Not sure, but an omission I am curious about for sure.

Hmmm yeah. Maybe MSA or like the surrounding cities too? Boston and NYC both seem a bit high but once you add the MSA it makes sense to me.

I do know JC has well over 100.

Actually, since JC is in the NYC metro, JC's count is included in the NYC totals, I bet.

It's in the video itself. Everything included in the circles are counted. https://i.imgur.com/ePqvaUE.jpg

I know I said it last time, but when looking at under construction numbers per capita, I find LA to be wildly low. Do earthquakes still make it that much cost-prohibitive to build?

You know what is even crazier, if they went out to 40 miles, they would have captured another 26 alone in New Brunswick. 14 in the East Brunswick/North Brunswick/Somerset area and the rest in the other half of Stamford, Norwalk. Asbury Park and Dover. Perhaps another 100 more.

I think last time I checked, the very vast majority of construction in LA were 5 story buildings and SFH still.

Maybe a little to do with the earthquakes, a bit of NIMBYism, a bit of lack of space, and a bit of cost restraints would be my best guess.
