Same! MSAs would provide the most apples-to-apples comparison.

I can't find any ranking since 2021.

Below is the most recent top 10 I found.
  1. Memphis Tn
  2. Monroe La
  3. Anchorage Ak
  4. Pine Bluff Ar
  5. Detroit Mi
  6. Danville ill
  7. Albany Ga
  8. Albuquerque NM
  9. Alexandria La
  10. Little Rock Ar

Notice the absence of Saint Louis and Baltimore. They aren't in the top 50.

Hard to say since some reporting is non existent for some cities some include all homicides some just include murders.

St Louis -150 as of 12/15 rate 53.57
Memphis 321 murders/ 373 homicides. rate 51
NO- 188 murders/ 213 homicides as of 12/9, rate 49
Baltimore 253 murders- rate 44.46
Cleveland ???
DC- 261 murders rate 41

By MSA 99% of major metro's won't be top 50 as you have millions of people living in the burbs that statistically offset the several hundred people getting killed in the inner city.

A man was shot and killed in the East End of Newport News last night, in front of the hood convenience store. That makes 44 for the year, extending its all-time homicide record.

On a somewhat lighter note none of the major cities have rates in the high 50s unlike before where St Louis, NO would be in the 70-60 range Baltimore and Detroit would be mid 50s, Cleveland-Memphis mid high 40s with the exception of Memphis unfortunate year.
