Gary, Indiana got 2 murders within 24 hours. And 2 more unconfirmed if someone died in 2 separate shootings. Note Gary Indiana's Murder rate in 2022 was at least 90 per Capita last time official homicides were reported back in December but could be around 90-95 given the population

New Orleans is kinda showing that the national murder slowdown of late 2022 might just be that, a slowdown. Could very well pickup where its left off.

Just curious but don’t different departments have different time frames to report? Saying this because if so, they wont compare this early in the year.

Sigh..."Idiot with a gun" indeed.

Meanwhile Baltimore is technically at 6 for 2023, but 2 of them were shot in 2022...so total is really 4.

Question for the board…..

Why do we track homicides versus shooting and stabbings? A homicide just means the victim didn’t make it. There are tons of victims that live which is a way better barometer of violence in my opinion. How many shootings and stabbings would be a better indicator of danger.
