Chicago, if the cost-of-living isn’t an issue. It would be the most similar culturally to where you are now and it’s traditionally been a destination for grads of the Big Ten and other Midwestern schools.
You’ve never been to Miami Beach, have you? There’s nothing conservative about it.

If you want to party and be part of a well known scene, then yes. If you want to start families and send your kids to schools where they'll be treated respectfully then I would think twice about it.
Agree with others that say avoid Texas and Florida. Among your remaining options, you may want to consider other factors like the job market in your profession, and general urban planning.
You should go where you have better job opportunities, decent real estate, good schools, not where the "scene" is hopping. It is the year 2023, most suburban areas could care less what your sexual orientation is. As long as you are a good decent human being.

That’s a good point, and for that matter Republican doesn’t necessarily mean conservative. Miami has a lot of new Republican voters, but it’s not like they’re opening Southern Baptist churches on every corner.
